"The Ohio Valley Hospital Consortium is an independent organization of community healthcare entities, working collaboratively to improve the health delivery system."
The Ohio Valley Hospital Consortium is an independent organization of community
healthcare entitites, working collaboratively to improve the health delivery system.
Since February 2001, the Ohio Valley Hospital Consortium (OVHC) has worked tirelessly
as an independent organization of community health care entities to improve healthcare
delivery for residents of southeast Ohio. To help achieve this goal, OVHC selected a
partner - Amerinet Inc. - to serve as its sole-source purchasing organization.
In working with Amerinet, the OVHC members have met one of the biggest challenges
rural hospitals face - receiving top quality supplies and services at the discounts
provided to larger health care systems. Amerinet negotiates custom contracts on behalf
of OVHC and makes available an array of competitively priced, quality products and
services provided by industry leaders.
Through the consortium, the four like-minded member organizations of OVHC have saved
more than $6 million since 2001 on purchases in key areas such as endo and sutures,
pharmacy wholesale, diagnostic/x-ray film and sterile custom procedure trays. Also,
the consortium has successfully negotiated 28 custom contracts since its inception and
accounted for almost $107 million in total purchases in FY 2006.
Ohio Valley Hospital Consortium\'s member organizations include:
- Adena Health System, which includes the 237-bed Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
- Fairfield Medical Center, a 222-bed acute care facility in Lancaster, Ohio.
- Holzer Consolidated Health Systems, which includes the 249-bed Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis and the 24-bed Holzer Medical Center-Jackson.
- Memorial Health System, which is led by the 199-bed Marietta Memorial Hospital
Executives from each facility comprise OVHC\'s board of directors. OVHC also is a member of Amerinet\'s Member Input Board, providing valuable evaluation and direction to the purchasing organization.
Prior to OVHC\'s formation, the four facilities seperately were Amerinet members. Their partnerships with Amerinet date back to 1979.
